Sometimes we get bound up in the work tasks, and we forget. Sometimes, we get too focused on the demands at the office, or what the daily tasks bring us.
Put the work down and walk away. At the end of the day, work is not going to be there for you, work is not going to wipe your ass or tuck you in. Work doesn't care about you. PEOPLE care about you. But the people who care about you get tired of being second (or third or fourth) behind work. The longer work is more important to you, the less likely people will be waiting for you to show up.
There is no audience. If you're worried about what people might think about a decision you've made, or an action you have taken, know that there is no audience. In fact, remind yourself : Susie, there is no audience. Sometimes, that personal reminder is necessary.
It's people who matter, and if you don't put them first, then soon enough they learn that lesson, and they walk away.
